Every family should have this book displayed in their house as a source of inspiration and display of strength for female trailblazers。To have 24 women share their stories and become such healthy and passionate role models for children and adults alike, is phenomenal。Thank you, Lara Einzig。

Full transparency, I helped to contribute to this project, but now that I hold this beautiful coffee table book in my hands I am even more thrilled with how it manifested。 Stunning photography, in-depth interviews, Lara Einzig's core creative concept - a book highlighting women around the world who find healing and empowerment on the water - has resulted in an incredible, diverse overview, documenting women from all walks of life, professions, backgrounds - each of their stories a reminder that Full transparency, I helped to contribute to this project, but now that I hold this beautiful coffee table book in my hands I am even more thrilled with how it manifested。 Stunning photography, in-depth interviews, Lara Einzig's core creative concept - a book highlighting women around the world who find healing and empowerment on the water - has resulted in an incredible, diverse overview, documenting women from all walks of life, professions, backgrounds - each of their stories a reminder that surfing can be a means of self-exploration and ultimately - redemption。 。。。more

This book is so much more than your everyday coffee table book。 Not only is it visually stunning, but it’s taken to the next level highlighting these incredible multicultural, multigenerational women who are living their lives with purpose and a desire to inspire change。 I love that each photo celebrates the individuality of these women in their common place of peace and refuge。 Then you are given vignettes about their lives and how the ocean has transformed them。 Their stories are inspiring, so This book is so much more than your everyday coffee table book。 Not only is it visually stunning, but it’s taken to the next level highlighting these incredible multicultural, multigenerational women who are living their lives with purpose and a desire to inspire change。 I love that each photo celebrates the individuality of these women in their common place of peace and refuge。 Then you are given vignettes about their lives and how the ocean has transformed them。 Their stories are inspiring, soulful and empowering。 We're given just enough about each woman to feel connected, yet leaves you wanting to know more。 I look forward to seeing what Lara Einzig does next with these fantastic stories。 。。。more

I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of this gorgeous book from the publisher for a piece I am researching。 The format is coffee-table style, very visual with some incredibly beautiful photographs from some well known and some up-and-coming female photographers。 It has a clear purpose - to shine a light on female surfers from across the US and all over the planet。 The women chosen to have their stories told are diverse and fascinating, from pro surfers like Steph Gilmore (who, along with he I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of this gorgeous book from the publisher for a piece I am researching。 The format is coffee-table style, very visual with some incredibly beautiful photographs from some well known and some up-and-coming female photographers。 It has a clear purpose - to shine a light on female surfers from across the US and all over the planet。 The women chosen to have their stories told are diverse and fascinating, from pro surfers like Steph Gilmore (who, along with her sister, fought for pay equity on the pro tour very recently) to the remarkable Textured Waves collective - black female surfers representing and inspiring other black females of any age to overcome systemic racism and intergenerational trauma and claim their place in the line up。 Each woman is awe-inspiring for the work they do to make change and tackle issues of racism, environmental devastation, misogyny, iniquity。 I am a surfer, who took to the water in earnest when I turned 40。 The surf culture that had prevailed when I was younger was definitely male-dominated, but line-ups in LA are certainly getting more diverse, and more accessible as a result。 Better vibes, more soul。 Thanks to the author, Lara Einzig, for bringing this into the world。 I want to see more like this。 。。。more

I'm not a surfer, but I also bought this book for a surfer friend who loves it too。 It's not JUST a beautiful coffee-table book of epic photography and gorgeous surf/travel locations, it's a collection of intimate life-stories that each woman in the book has shared。 It's the sort of book you can dip in and out of when you need a dose of inspiration。 The stories are long enough to make their points, but short enough so as not to become labored。 Alongside the beautiful images, these stories seem t I'm not a surfer, but I also bought this book for a surfer friend who loves it too。 It's not JUST a beautiful coffee-table book of epic photography and gorgeous surf/travel locations, it's a collection of intimate life-stories that each woman in the book has shared。 It's the sort of book you can dip in and out of when you need a dose of inspiration。 The stories are long enough to make their points, but short enough so as not to become labored。 Alongside the beautiful images, these stories seem to be about living life with purpose, or rather how they found their purpose。 It's rare to get a 'lifestyle' book that has such depth (pardon the pun!) I'll definitely be giving more as presents。 。。。more

This book really does shine light on a sport that usually depicts men and their bros。 It's a beautiful book about the sisterhood of surfing, with so many great stories about women from all around the world。 They are stories of triumph and pain and resilience and the pictures are absolutely stunning, like a work or art。 Such an interesting, diverse mix of women too from different cultures with pretty detailed stories about their lives, what drives them and how they want to make a lasting impact o This book really does shine light on a sport that usually depicts men and their bros。 It's a beautiful book about the sisterhood of surfing, with so many great stories about women from all around the world。 They are stories of triumph and pain and resilience and the pictures are absolutely stunning, like a work or art。 Such an interesting, diverse mix of women too from different cultures with pretty detailed stories about their lives, what drives them and how they want to make a lasting impact on the planet。 You really don't have to be surfer to like this book and I'm definitely buying it for all my girlfriends!!! 。。。more

Thank you to Edelweiss & Ten Speed Press for the eARC 🏄🏻‍♀️🏄🏽‍♀️🏄🏿‍♀️I 100% picked this book up because I saw Bonnie Wright- known universally for her role as Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter movies- was profiled。 I mean, I’ve only surfed a handful of times, and I’m not very good, so of course a profile about someone adjacent to a topic I’ve loved most of my life made it even more interesting! I’ve always been fascinated with the sport。 Being in the water without being fully in it, feeling the speed of the ocean under your feet and literally rolling with wave, it always seemed so mystical to me。 Alas, boards are expensive and I’m two hours from any beach, even a shitty, rocky one。 So while I’m still interested, there isn’t much opportunity。There are a lot of women profiled in this book, from young groms to fully fledged surfing champions, but the book itself doesn’t touch on much。 The women spend a lot of time talking about when they started surfing, their favorite places to surf, and how surfing has shaped how they see everything from racism to environmentalism。 It’s like an appetizer; we’re breaching the surface but I feel like there’s so much left to explore。There are women profiled here who were just starting out on the surf scene when there were no women。 Not to mention, there’s an opportunity to explore how surfing has evolved from a Hawaiian tradition to a universally loved sport。 I wanted to see more history than what we actually got, because I feel like it’s just as important as how women are changing the sport。 Where was it compared to today? Why were women discouraged when culturally they always had a place? How do all these things go hand in hand and what trends shifted to encourage change?read my full review on myblog: https://megansbookstacks。wordpress。co。。。 。。。more
